Cinnamon Roll Smoothie Recipe

Cinnamon Roll Smoothie Recipe

Cinnamon Roll Smoothie Recipe

One of the best things about smoothies is that there really are no limits to what you can do with them. From light and fruity to rich and creamy, the variations are absolutely endless. Another great thing about them is that they’re like dessert, but much healthier.

Cinnamon-Roll-Smoothie-Recipe

No matter what your favorite dessert is, from a banana split to pumpkin pie, you can whip up a smoothie version of it in minutes. Throw a few ingredients in the blender, hit the button, and boom! Dessert in a glass.

So it should come as no surprise that my newest recipe is for a cinnamon roll smoothie. Basically, just imagine taking all the sweet, sticky, spicy indulgence of a fresh-baked cinnamon roll and cramming it into a glass. The only thing you can leave out is the guilt, because this Cinnamon Roll Smoothie is low-fat and packed with healthy fruit and oatmeal.

A cinnamon roll you can sip through a straw. You can’t beat that-but you can blend it.

Note: If you do not have frozen fruit to use for the smoothies, fresh fruit will work just fine. If using fresh fruit, make sure to add a handful of ice to the other ingredients before blending. The frozen fruit just adds that cold element to make an ice cold drink.

Vitamix 7500 BlenderThe most common Vitamix shopper’s question is some variant of, “I want a Vitamix to make smoothies, soups, and frozen desserts. Which model would be best for me?” The answer is that all Vitamix machines work great for those purposes; which one is best for you depends on if you want to pay for extra features.

If you’re overwhelmed by the choices and just want to know my preference, I’ve used all of the different types of Vitamix blenders, and the one I use on a daily basis is the 7500, with an extra 32-oz container for blending smaller amounts. (For the best deal, check out certified reconditioned.) All of the models are excellent, and I don’t think there is a wrong choice. (Plus, if you change your mind in the first 30 days, you can get a full refund, including covered shipping both ways.)

Whole Foods Tropical Green Smoothie Recipe

Whole Foods Tropical Green Smoothie Recipe

I went to Whole Foods the other night after spin class and ended up ordering the best smoothie. It’s their Tropical Green Smoothie! It consists of spinach, coconut water, banana, pineapple, and mango.

I love getting smoothies from juice bars and markets when I’m low on time and groceries, but sometimes I don’t think their smoothies are thick enough. My recipe is a little bit thicker but tastes just like theirs! If you like thick smoothies, you are in the right place! But if you like your smoothies a little thinner, no problem, just add some extra coconut water to the recipe!

Whole Foods Tropical Green Smoothie

1/2 – 1 cup coconut water
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup pineapple
1/2 cup mango
huge handful of spinach

Start with 1/2 cup of coconut water and add more if needed or desired. Blend until creamy and smooth.

Vitamix Blending Tips:
Some of you have asked me what settings I use on my blender.
Vitamix blenders can look intimidating, but they are so easy to use!

  • Start by placing all of the ingredients into the blender, followed by the lid, and plunger.
  • I usually start off on variable 5 as I jam all of the ingredients down with the plunger.
  • Once the ingredients have all been pushed to the bottom, I like to bring the variable speed up to 7 or 8 until it starts moving on it’s own without the plunger.
  • Once the ingredients start blending without the help of the trusty Vitamix plunger, I hit the “HIGH” switch and let it run until it blends super smooth and even!
Juicing to Relieve Headaches or Migraines

Juicing to Relieve Headaches or Migraines

MIGRAINE RELIEVER JUICE RECIPE RICH IN MAGNESIUM, CALCIUM AND POTASSIUM

If you’re experiencing chronic migraines it could be due to what you’re eating. Some of the foods that trigger migraines:  Fried foods, sugar, artificial sweeteners, flour based products, dairy products, alcohol, caffeine, food additives, chocolate and some nuts or seeds.

A diet high in complex carbohydrates (whole grains and starchy vegetables) and low in protein is recommended for headache sufferers.

Most of the time, a migraine is the body’s way of signalling that it is dehydrated. Drink plenty of water, fresh fruit and vegetable juices to rid the body of the toxins that are the main culprit of headaches.

Most fruits and vegetables are rich in three very important minerals that help remedy migraines, namely: Potassium, calcium and magnesium. Some foods that especially help: Dark green vegetables, bananas, cantaloupe, celery, cucumber, lemon, pineapple, watermelon, and ginger.

1/2 pineapple
3-4 leaves kale or a bunch of spinach
1 stick of celery
1/2 cucumber
1/4 lemon
1/2 inch ginger root (optional)

And drink plenty of [eafl id=1053 name=”Perfect Water Purifier – articleLink2″ text=”filtered water”]!

Coconut Milk Smoothie For Weight Loss

Coconut Milk Smoothie For Weight Loss

Coconut milk, despite its high saturated fat content, can help the body burn more energy and lose weight more easily. The unique structure of the MCFAs (medium chain fatty acids) found in coconut milk allow them to be burned more readily for energy, and increases total energy expenditure over the day. Additionally, MCFAs have been shown to be more satiating than longer-chain fats, filling you up better and helping prevent hunger.

Ingredients:

8 oz. organic coconut milk, (I like the Native Forest brand, the container is BPA free)
1 tablespoon organic extra virgin coconut oil (I like the Nutiva brand)
2 eggs, organic, free range, and yes, raw!
1/4 cup organic frozen raspberries or other frozen berry
1 frozen organic banana
Optional: 1 tsp- 1 tbsp organic raw honey ( I leave this out but you might prefer it!)

Directions:

In a high powered blender or Vitamix, blend well until desired consistency is achieved. ENJOY!

Cherry-Os for kids

Cherry-Os for kids

*4 bananas, sliced and frozen
*2 cups almond milk
*small dash vanilla
*a bit of stevia, if desired
*1 cup cherries, sliced

This is a fun breakfast and is as simple as a smoothie in a bowl. Kids especially seem to enjoy the cherries sliced into rings and floated in the sweet blend of banana and vanilla.

In a blender, process the frozen bananas, almond milk, vanilla, and optional stevia until very smooth. Pour into bowls and add the cherry slices. They should rest on top without sinking easily.

Incredibly Delicious Cashew Cream

Incredibly Delicious Cashew Cream

Raw Honey Cashew Cream

Options:

  • add a tiny pinch of cinnamon – takes the edge off the sweetness and is great for fruitcake.
  • add brandy for Brandy Cream for Christmas pudding.
  • serve over fresh berries.

Drain the cashews and then place all ingredients in Vitamix and blend on high until smooth and creamy.

Who knew you could make cream out of cashews and water…this cream is absolutely incredible!

This is yummy! I put it over fruit salad and my family loved it!
